Boost your gift by 25% at no cost to you
If you are a UK Tax Payer, the Norfolk Deaf Association can claim an extra 25p for every pound you donate through the Government’s Gift Aid scheme. Please complete and return a Gift Aid Declaration form with your gift.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your donations through UK income tax or capital gains tax. All donations (excluding those made through the Charities Aid Foundation) are eligible for the scheme, including regular gifts such as Standing Orders. We can claim Gift Aid on donations made in the last four years and on future donations once we receive your Gift Aid Declaration.
Why do I need to make a declaration?
The declaration gives the Norfolk Deaf Association the right to reclaim the tax from HMRC on your donations. By making the Gift Aid declaration, you are confirming that you are happy for us to do this.
How do I know if I am a UK taxpayer?
You are a UK tax payer if:
- Tax is taken from your wages or pension before you receive them
- You have to fill in a self-assessment form
- You have any taxable savings, or a pension plan, or investment income you have recently paid any capital gains tax, or expect to pay it in the near future – for example on the sale of a property or shares.
Leave a gift in your will
Thank you for considering leaving a gift to Norfolk Deaf Association. Your legacy will play an important role in improving the lives of many people with hearing loss in our county, and is crucial to our work now and in the future. Leaving a legacy to NDA is a wonderful way to make your support for NDA live on.
What can you give?
- A percentage gift – you may wish to give a percentage of your estate to NDA.
- A residual gift – you can give the remainder of your estate after you have provided for loved ones.
- A pecuniary gift – you can also leave a specific sum of money.
- A gift of a named asset – for example property that we can sell on your behalf.
- A gift of shares – these can be sold immediately, or added to our endowment to support our service users for years to come.
How can you leave NDA a gift in your will?
If you have not yet written your Will, we recommend you speak to a solicitor who can ensure your estate is handled in accordance with your wishes. Your solicitor can also advise you on how leaving a charitable legacy can lower the Inheritance Tax payable on your estate. The Law Society website can assist in finding a solicitor if necessary – www.lawsociety.org.uk
If you already have a Will you can add a Codicil without rewriting the whole Will. This is a short statement that will be read at the same time as your Will. It needs to be witnessed and kept together with your Will.
You are not required to inform us if you decide to leave a legacy gift to the Norfolk Deaf Association (NDA). However, if you are happy to hear from us, we would be delighted to thank you and keep you updated on our work.
